"Alex is the Exeter Math Whisperer"
-Parent of two Spence graduates
I have devoted my career to perfecting the craft of professional tutoring. In 2013, I tutored my first Exeter math student and instantly became fascinated by the curriculum. In the decade since, I have honed this into a niche area of expertise. With a streamlined approach, I have helped over one hundred students master this unique and challenging curriculum. Few others understand its intricacies as well as I do.

I offer tutoring remotely and in-person in Manhattan.
What I Offer

Homework help

I have crafted optimal approaches to solving every problem throughout the entire Exeter math curriculum. I will show you important formulas and themes that occur throughout, and also point out which problems are "fly-over" (superfluous) so that you can maximize the use of your time.

Test preparation
We review key ideas and predict the problem types that will show up on each test. I have developed a comprehensive question bank of practice problem that get you ready to ace your tests.

Testimonials
As a student who struggled with Exeter math, finding the right tutor was essential for my success. I worked with another tutor before meeting with Alex, and while this tutor was very good at math they had limited understanding of Exeter math. I didn't know what I was missing until I started working with Alex. He has the whole curriculum memorized and has great supplemental problems to help me prepare for tests. He also helped me develop a deeper appreciation for math and it is now my favorite class. Every step of the way, Alex went above and beyond and I could feel how committed he was to helping me succeed.

A lovely note from one of my SAT students:
Alex has been instrumental to my learning and personal growth this year. First of all, he is a master of the SAT. Because he's familiar with each section, he was able to create a plan that targeted specific problem types and concepts I needed to work on. I ended up boosting my score by over 150 points. Whenever I had lapses in discipline, Alex would push me and hold me accountable, and in moments of low confidence, he would instill faith in my ability. Overall, Alex is a great guide who not only taught me SAT material, but life lessons that I'll carry forward with me.

At Spence, there is one tutor that all the students turn to for the simple reason that he is the best. Alex is like the Exeter Math Whisperer of the Upper East Side. With his guidance, my daughters quickly transitioned from being average math students to having math class becoming one of their "easy As". I cannot overstate the positive impact that Alex had on my daughters' confidence and sense of self-worth. He is more than a tutor; he is a mentor and coach that will do anything for his students.
